Code (CAP04) P47 Thunderbolt £185.00 Span 61.25" - Engine 61+ - Radio 4 to 6 function.
The Thunderbolt earned its nickname of 'The Jug' (Juggernaut) Used as a long range escort fighter or fighter bomber, it was a well respected aircraft. The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt established a distinguished record as a high altitude interceptor and bomber escort. More Thunderbolts were manufactured during World War 2 than any other American fighter, and the seven-ton aircraft became extremely popular with A.A.F. pilots because of its ability to absorb extensive battle damage and remain flying. Perhaps the most outstanding tribute to this aircraft is the fact that all 10 of the leading Thunderbolt aces survived the war. The P-47 could easily out dive the enemy fighters and could “dish-out” terrible punishment form its eight 12.7 mm. Browning machine guns.
This is a large model that will win competitions. Noel Booysen's C.A.P P47D "Thunderbolt" took first place in the South African Nationals. Flies well on a 61 to 91 size engine as a minimum. Editor of "Radio Modeller" - "I have seen several thrown about like aerobatic models."
